The origins of "Cavurrino"
In what was once called Via Larga, now Via Camillo Cavour, carriages, artisans, students and travelers passed through Florence with their dreams and stories.
When the city became the capital of Italy for a few years, the street was named after Camillo Cavour, a symbol of change and the future.
Among the common people, however, his name became something more familiar and everyday: “il Cavurrino”.
From this nickname comes the identity of our tavern, a place that preserves the memory of the city and transforms it into hospitality, tradition, and conviviality.
The coin
Symbol of conviviality
The Cavurrino was the name given to the small coin, or banknote with Cavour's face printed on it.
It did not represent wealth or luxury, but something more precious: the simplicity of authentic things.
It was enough for a hot dish, a glass of wine and a shared table among friends or strangers who became companions for the evening.
It was the symbol of a popular and genuine Florence, made of meetings and stories.
A small gesture capable of transforming an ordinary moment into an experience of warmth, conviviality, and tradition.
The kitchen
The spirit of the Osteria
Osteria Cavurrino was born from the idea of bringing the most authentic spirit of Florentine tradition to the table: a way of experiencing cuisine and hospitality.
It means sincere dishes, selected ingredients, a genuine welcome, and fair prices.
Above all, it means sharing the pleasure of being together around a table.
Every dish tells the story of Florence, every toast creates a memory.
Sit down, breathe in the atmosphere of the tavern, and let yourself be taken on a journey of flavors that speak of history and conviviality.
